Background of the Study

Political ideologies have a profound effect on voter behavior, shaping their preferences during elections. In Akure LGA, Ondo State, the interplay of political ideologies and voter choices reflects the broader political environment in Nigeria, where ideologies often intersect with ethnic, religious, and economic considerations (Adeyemo & Olatunji, 2023). Political ideologies, such as conservatism, liberalism, and socialism, influence how voters align with candidates and political parties. Understanding how these ideologies shape voting behavior in Akure LGA is critical to evaluating electoral processes and political engagement in Nigeria.

By focusing on Akure LGA, the research will offer context-specific knowledge that can inform electoral strategies and political campaigns in similar regions (Jibril & Ojo, 2024).

1.7 Scope and Limitations of the Study

The study will focus on the 2023 elections in Akure LGA and the impact of political ideologies on voter behavior. Limitations include challenges in measuring voters' ideological preferences and the potential bias in self-reported data.
